Show: Circus de Noc presenting Fetish Decadence, Dec 11th, $30. Like smashing atoms, this is what you get when you combine the semi-fring organizations of Circus Contraption and Wet Spot, producing a fetish bazaar, masquerade ball, fetish fashion show, and Circus Contraption performance. Though cast against a sexualized backdrop, the event is more about costumery and tantalizing delights rather than about getting laid. Outdoor Activity: Kickball and Dodgeball Tournament by Under Dog Sports, Dec 10th, starting at $150 per team. Hey, these games were fun back in grade school, and they're still fun now. Get the added rush of playing in Qwest Field. Faith: It's natural to start thinking about the Big Guy this time of year, so here's some ways to engage your faith in a fun way. Tales and Treasures, Dec 10th - 11th. A full scale Christmas production expressed in literature, scripture, song, and film. The event includes a live nativity, larger-than-life pop-up books, and musical performances by a variety of choirs. A Charlie Brown Christmas Festival, Dec 12th. The play with everything for a full evening: a living nativity, live music, fire pit with s'mores, chidren's craft areas, Christmas train ride, food and more. If the other 51 weekly church services were as thrill packed as these, there'd be no vacancies in the pews. Music:
Deck the Hall Ball, Dec 9th,
$35. The alternative music station 107.7 presents an all-ages
show with a five band line-up. Listening to a string of
alternative music songs, you usually enjoy some and dislike others, but
you never know which song will end up being your next favorite.
Colt Valenti by Music Works
Northwest, Dec 10th, $10. A special evening of
eclectic guitar music from the Single's Activity: Single's Holiday Party by Cupid's World, Dec 12th, $25. Being alone during the holidays seems to weigh down the most, so why not hook up with someone before Christmas? Wine Event: Sign the Wines, Dec 7th, $30. A fundraiser for Hopelink, meet northwest winemakers, sample their current releases, and purchase some wines for Christmas. Held at the Newcastle Golf Club, so the event is worth going to for the view alone. Film Event: Women-in-Film holiday social, Dec 7th, free. Focusing on ladies in media, provides a forum for like-minded individuals to mingle and network. Seems like half the people in this town have some sort of script idea, so take it down for a test run and get the benefit other people's thoughts. Theater: Open house at Freehold Theatre, Dec 9th, free. Oriented to people interested in exploring theatre training. Talk to instructors and participate in sample classes for free before signing up. If you'd rather be on the other side of the stage, then check out The Santaland Diaries, $10+, until Dec 24th. A one-man play about the joy of working as a elf at Macy's. You can probably imagine how fun this would be. Or, if you're starting to get Christmas'ed out, then see Robin Hood at the Village Theatre, starting Dec 10th, $16. Organization: Northwest Model Railroad Club. No matter how old you are, there's something about model trains that brings out the inner five year old boy. Go and reclaim some of your youth. Fashion: Over My Naked Body fashion show at the Fenix Underground, Dec 12th, $5. Textile fashions paired up with plenty of music. |
The
upcoming weather Three new email newsletters. See bottom of page for details. Christmas Traditions: If you're not enjoying at least some part of the holidays, it simply becomes one more stressful time of the year. The building blocks of Christmas memories:
Nutcracker at Pacific Northwest Ballet. There's a reason why every department store plays a song from the Nutcracker in the background. This is the big one, the staple of children's first exposure to ballet, an event for the family, and a piece in every dancer's repertoire. Like a favorite song, it's savored best when not overplayed. If it's been more than 3-5 years since the last time you've seen it, then this might be the year to go see it again. Christmas Carol at ACT Theatre. This performance is one of the best stagings this year in any Seattle theater. Even though you already know the story, this production will still have you on the edge of your seat. Photos with Santa at Nordstrom. These are not some cheapy photos thrown into a show-box; rather, this is for the keep-sakes bringing up fond memories years later. It's still nice to pretend, even for just a moment, that Santa can grant your wish.

New Publications:
Gala Calendar, published once a month. Plan ahead for the next gala or formal event. If the only time you put on the evening wear and sparkle is the company holiday party, then you're missing a lot of Seattle. It seems like the only time the media covers a gala is afterwards, when they're printing the photos of what already happened and describing what a good time you missed. If you'd like to learn of a great party beforehand instead, then you just might end up as the pretty person in the published photo sometime! Click here to subscribe.
Single Events, published about once every three weeks. The old yarn
is that it's hard to meet new people in Seattle. There's actually a lot of
fun activities going on that improve your chances of meeting someone of
interest, if you know what's up. The first step is getting out of the
house; the second step is knowing what to do - this publication provides the
ideas.
